LiveCD to Unlock Your Linksys SPA-2102

Important Information - Read First

  1. DO NOT RUN THIS CD IF YOU CURRENTLY USE TELEBLEND FOR PHONE SERVICE
  2. You assume all risk associated with running the LiveCD. Any damage to persons, property, or data are the sole responsibility of the user. By downloading and running the CD, you acknowledge and accept these risks and hold the author(s) of the various programs, scripts, and methods harmless for any and all damages. If you do not agree to these terms and conditions, do not download or use the LiveCD.
Thanks to undef for pointing these out to me. Here are some instructions (from http://srgizmos.ragenet.us/index.php/SPA-2102#Unlocking_the_SPA-2102) on how to use the LiveCD I posted about yesterday:

Semi-Automated Unlocking of the SPA-2102 is now possible by using a custom Live CD. The Live CD handles much of the work involved in preparing your system to unlock the SPA, although some manual steps are still required.

Instructions:
  1. Download the Live CD here (MD5: 4bfdf4d238d0405305e874a8ada53e1a). This will redirect to Sourceforge.net for more reliable downloads.
  2. Burn the ISO image to CD
  3. To run the LiveCD, you will need:
    • PC or Intel MAC with a CD-ROM
    • An ethernet cable, switch, or hub
    • A locked SPA2102-r
  4. Reboot your computer using the LiveCD.
  5. Follow the directions and prompts as they are presented to you.
  6. None of the pauses should last for more than five minutes. If they last that long, it is because your network connection to the SPA2102 is bad. Try a different cable(s) or a crossover cable and restart the CD.
  7. The username and password for web administration will be set to admin' and qwe%zxc5 , respectively.
  8. The URL to access the web interface, from the ETHERNET port, after unlocking the device will usually be http://192.168.0.1/admin/voice/advanced. If this does not work, try connecting the device to your switch or router using the INTERNET port - it will acquire an IP address from your router and accept connections to the web interface on that address. To determine what IP address it acquired, please reference the product manuals or literature for your specific router/switch/gateway.

Your device is now unlocked! You can now take it to another provider like ViaTalk or Vonage.

Worked well, but took a while, I forced a factory reset, and ensured my dhcp router didn't issue an IP (defeats the purpose as stated).

It's also useful to add, that when behind a router, you'll need to enable the web interface there (WAN side) too with option 7932#

this finally worked. it took a while, because I was not sure if it actually worked. For the first time though I was able to get into the Gizmo with the phone.

My user was also just >admin< and not >admin'<. I had to play around with a few different user names first until I got in.

Thanx a lot for providing this relatively easy way with the LiveCD.

It took me all day today, but I was finally able to make this work. It will work for you too. Just don't give up when you get the invalid password or have other problems. It is well worth the time to download and create the CD.

I had problems as well, but here is what I found out that worked.

Make sure that you are direct connected from your computer to the Blue Internet Port.

Start by making your Gizmo DHCP
From the phone:
****
101#
1#
1

Download the CD and boot your computer from it.

Follow the instructions. During the first set of instructions, ignore the invalid password message and continue with the instructions.

Then go have a cup of coffee or do something else while it works.

When you come back it should be on the next part of the process. Do what it says. At this point if it askes for the password and you put in the number into the phone and it says that it still is not valid, start over again. By the time you get to the second part of the process the password should work.

Again let the process rung for a while. I went and had a piece of toast.

If it doesn't finish, try this from the phone:

****
7932#
1#
1

Enter the password. If it works you are on to the next setp. Reboot the machine.

If it doesn't work, reboot from the CD and start over again.

Prior to the next step, plug Gizmo into your router and your computer into the router.

The username and password for web administration will be set to admin' and qwe%zxc5 , respectively.
The URL to access the web interface, from the ETHERNET port, after unlocking the device will usually be http://192.168.0.1/admin/voice/advanced.

For me it wasn't. It will depend on what IP range your router or switch assignes both your machine and your Gizmo. Use your router's software to tell you what IP DHCP assigned to your equipment.

If this does not work, try connecting the device to your switch or router using the INTERNET port - it will acquire an IP address from your router and accept connections to the web interface on that address. To determine what IP address it acquired, please reference the product manuals or literature for your specific router/switch/gateway.

Go to change the IP to what your router indicated for the Gizmo. http://192.168.0.1/admin/voice/advanced, and, login with the credentials admin and qwe%zxc5 [ For this to work you need to disconnect the device and plug it on the ETHERNET side. You also need to change your computer back to using dhcp if you using windows ].

Next I did this:
3. Click on system. Delete the contents of Restricted Access Domain so that it is blank.
4. Hit Submit all changes.

Step 3: Load updated firmware
1. Go to http://itrealm.net/spa2102-5.1.9.zip (or from Linksys support) and download to desktop
2. Right click on zip file, extract here.
3. Double click on upg-spa2102-5-1-9.exe
4. Enter 192.168.0.1 for IP hit ok
5. Enter password 7UprUtew hit ok
6. Router stats are displayed, hit upgrade.
7. Hit ok to close utility.

Now everything works.

You are wicked awesome my friend. I looked all over to fix m SPA2102 after I accidentally reset it. No leads until your post, and it worked like a charm! And for my mac on top of it. YOU ROCK, thanks for your help, you saved me money and time, and the environment from me throwing the gizmo out!

Those of you that were able to make the live CD work, when you get the invalid message what do you do next? I just "kept going" like some one said earlier and it says "Press any key if you are ready to unlock your device" I hit enter and it just sent the cursor to the next line and that was it. I left it for like 20 minutes and nothing.
The earlier post said that it takes a while but did I miss something? It doesn't seem to be doing anything...
